TH!NK PINK

As we all inch closer and closer to Spring (at this rate it should be here by June) and wonder what direction our wardrobe should take, our style icon Mamma Biscuit and her leader Maggie Prescott at Quality magazine can give you all a clue. Red is dead, blue is through, green’s obscene, browns to boo and there is not the slightest excuse for plum or puce. . . . or chartreuse—TH!NK PINK! Forget that Dior says black or rust. TH!NK PINK. Who cares if the new look has no bust. Now Mamma wouldn’t want to presume to tell you what to think but if you intend on looking fabulous this Spring, TH!NK PINK. . . and that includes the kitchen sink!

With love,
Our Funny Face, Mamma Biscuit

Early Easter at the Pug Palace

It’s that time of year again for the Biscuits to erect their annual Easter tree at the Pug Palace. But before we dive into the intricacies of this labor of love, Mamma would like to show you all her new, vintage Wonder Woman tee that Mr. Bunny left for her to usher in the egg-hunting season. This awesome tee comes from Bentley B. and it’s a one-of-a-kind original. No two tees are alike because each is designed using well selected vintage, recycled and discounted clothing. It comes as no surprise that Mr. Bunny came through with this fabulous selection for Mamma as we believe that she embodies the essence of Wonder Woman to a tee—and also because the Madonna tee was sold out—just like her damn concerts but that’s a separate story!

Here’s a contact sheet of Mamma workin’ her new tee for Mr. Bunny. Thank goodness for a forgiving neckline, our little gremlin has such a massive, built-in mink stole that’s hard to tame.

Now onto Mamma’s fabulous Easter tree. There is nothing that Mamma loves to do more than to trim a tree and it’s clear that her love affair with Christmas has extended into Easter. This display was created with three bushels of pussy willows, aquamarine colored eggs piled at the bottom of the vase for aesthetic support and vintage and vintage-like handcrafted paper ornaments. It measures at 69 inches high by 47 inches at it’s widest point and brings a much needed sense of Springtime to our world.

Mamma cannot wait for her Easter egg hunt in two weeks, our little bitch will be scouring the back yard for soft-chew-treat-filled plastic eggs and more.

Enjoy!

Sleep ’til Spring

Enough with these mixed signals from Mother Nature, Mamma Biscuit has decided to sleep until the real Spring arrives. That’s right, our little gremlin has decided that she will not step foot outdoors until the sun comes out and the temperatures are warmer. Mamma simply cannot handle one more cloudy, dismal, cold day. Maybe she’ll venture out to do her pee pees and her poo pees—but that’s about it! Hopefully, those wonderfully sunny Spring days where she can take long walks through Fort Tryon Park in the nude will be here soon!

Sweet dreams little angel!

Mamma’s war on homophobia

Even though there is a tremendous increase in acceptance of gay, lesbian, transgender and bisexual people within our culture, LGBT crimes continue to rise. Despite the impressive accomplishments of gay activism—from the Stonewall riots of 1969 to the current fight against Proposition 8—it is still undeniable that there are many individuals in this world who are so rigidly conditioned and controlled by imposed gender roles and who hatefully oppose everything that is not “one man and one woman”. There are many within this group of hate who go beyond verbal social-political debate and into the realm of bullying and physical brutality to impose these personal, hateful beliefs. The cost of homophobia is so incredibly tragic on so many levels. From the recent plague of teen suicides to urban street and subway attacks to the overall internal and external shaming and deteriorating value of one’s self-worth, it is forcefully clear that homophobia is a cancer that not only stunts the hater but the entire society we live in.

The Biscuits would like to take this opportunity to address the recent attack on Damian Furtch, a 26 year old who was brutally beaten up by two homophobic thugs at 4:30am last week in the West Village—how ironic. After being attacked, Furtch posted photos labeled “gay bash” of his bruised and stitched up face on Facebook with a note that read “Well I thought I was safe in the city I loved but apparently wearing florescent colored clothing and pink shoe laces really bother some f**king assholes to blind side me and hit me . . . . 4 stitches thanks bitches”. You can see photos and read more about this here.

Mamma Biscuit and family would like to send our support and love to Damian and to the millions of other victims out there in this world who have endured physical and or verbal abuse for simply being what they are intended to be. With unfortunate, reoccurring situations like this, it is important to keep perspective and to not be discouraged. It is our duty to remain completely visible and to project nothing but unapologetic pride in who we are while safely being aware of our surroundings. To create our own value and self-worth by demanding mutual respect from our families, neighbors, government and religious institutions—not tolerance as the word alone is simply steeped in negative connotations. It is our duty to call out the hypocrisy of our political leaders, government and all religious institutions and their leaders who really set the stage for day-to-day homophobia to exist with their discriminatory policies and imposed, patriarchal code of morality and gender roles. It is our duty to challenge a hypocritical mass culture who obsesses over ideas of “uniqueness” to the point of commodifying them while ironically fearing the unknown or anything perceived to be different. By refocusing on our many similarities, we can begin to value and celebrate the fact that we have more in common than not and that we all seek the same things in life—to be loved and to feel valued and accepted within our communities and within this world. And hopefully, this celebration will overpower fear and stigma and lead a world into fully understanding that it is fundamentally wrong for anyone to deny others what they would demand for themselves—especially something as basic as personal, individual security and safety.

Mamma Biscuit can now jump off her soapbox, the Pug has spoken!

A reflection of Mamma

“Even the greatest stars discover themselves in the looking glass.
Even the greatest stars find their face in the looking glass”

Kraftwerk was so right! I think Mamma has stumbled upon an image of herself—and I think she likes what she sees!

Happy Saturday!
