Overboard!

The wealthy debutante Joanna Stayton played by Goldie Hawn in Overboard has nothing on these luxurious photos of Mamma Biscuit sunbathing on her very own private yacht off the coast of rural Elk Cove, Oregon. Actually, our lovely beast was swaying back and forth under the gentle, rippling water of the bay at Provincetown but you get our drift. We took these photos of Mamma just as she was berating us for building her a doggy treat closet made of oak wood—who knew she wanted a frame made of cedar. She was so displeased with the end result and angry that it wasn’t fully stocked with treats that she shoved us both overboard along with our tools. It’s going to take more than a slip off this boat and a bad case of amnesia for Mamma Biscuit to forget about this remodeled closet of hers. Thank goodness our royal bitch of the sea had her personal assistant Andrew and a full staff working under her. As Andrew began fanning our queen in the heat with a giant palm tree branch, Mamma flapped her tongue about losing a pair of doggy booties somewhere between 89th and 69th streets and 5th avenue. So she dismissed him with a cold and direct “find them” before nodding off next to a martini glass and a diamond brooch.

Mamma Biscuit on the caviar served on her yacht:
“What is this GELATINOUS MUCK? Andrew, must I specify that you are to pack GOOD caviar and not this $1.99 FISH BAIT? Caviar should be round, and hard, and of adequate size. And it should burst in your mouth at precisely the right moment. Now throw THAT out”

An apple a day. . . .

The old adage of “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” needs to be amended Mamma Biscuit style. We feel like a hug from Mamma Biscuit before actually eating the apple will not only keep the doctor at bay but will bring you a nice and cozy, warm feeling of love. We all need a hug at least once a day and Mamma is the perfect delivery girl for such a task!

Here is our little gremlin at the orchards showing you all how to be the best teacher’s pet ever!

Puppy Chuckles

Mamma Biscuit and family ventured out over the weekend to the Green Flea Market on the Upper West Side. Green Flea has been operating for more than 25 years and is among the first open air markets in the city. Located in the MS 44 schoolyard and extends indoors through the hallways leading to the cafeteria, Green Flea offers up a combination of antique and vintage furniture, collectibles, clothing, jewelry and more. We Biscuits love a good hunt. Tommy can usually be found knee-deep in a massive stack of vinyl records while I can be found nearby, under a heap of junk pulling out just the right Christmas blow-mold with one hand while holding Mamma Biscuit in the other. With that said, we’re sad to report that we did not score well in either the vinyl or seasonal department but we did find this wonderful box of vintage Puppy Chuckles stationary cards from the 1940’s.

This may sound old school but Mamma Biscuit loves a good quality stationary and to have “adogable” illustrations of her kind for every occasion as the subject matter was simply the icing on the cake. Here are all 20 cards scanned in and laid out for your viewing pleasure. Each card has a corresponding illustration and message on the inside as well. Mamma can definitely relate to all of these scenarios —especially with the “Hope your Fondest Dreams” card considering our little gremlin sleeps 23 out of 24 hours a day and dreams of food.

So the next time your due for a get well card or just a simple birthday sentiment from Mamma, you may just have one of these lovely cards waiting for you in your mail box. We were pretty impressed with Mamma’s negotiating skills to acquire these cards. Our bitch turned on her charm and drove down the price to 7 bucks—not bad for a pug who usually nods off during the middle of the day.

Enjoy!

Stoopsitter

There is no better way to greet Spring than to bask in the afternoon sunlight while sitting on a stoop of a brownstone in Chelsea, NYC. Here is Mamma Biscuit doing just that while channeling her inner Pearl from 227. Forget an open, ground-level window, Mamma would rather perch herself on a set of grand steps like these to observe all of the neighborhood activities.

From this vantage point, Mamma could clearly see if Calvin were carousing with his neighborhood buddies in the middle of the street or if he was making out with Brenda leaning against a parked car. To be honest, Mamma could care less about Calvin or Brenda, the only thing that was on her mind was the possibility of finding something edible on those steps before the owner of the home came out to inquire why she was there in the first place.

Luckily, we got away with these snapshots while giving our little girl a better view and sniff of the nearby yellow cornelian cherry dogwood bush behind that banister.

Happy Spring

5 Pointz, 1 Mamma

We Biscuits are reliving some warmer weather events here in NYC and one in particular that stands out for Mamma is our visit to 5 Pointz in Long Island City. 5 Pointz: The Institute of Higher Burnin’ or the 5 Pointz Aerosol Art Center, Inc. is an outdoor art exhibit space in Long Island City, New York. The location is considered to be the world’s premiere “graffiti Mecca” where aerosol artists from around the globe come to paint colorful pieces on the walls of a 200,000-square-foot factory building. Mamma learned about this location when her daddy was reading an AM New York one morning on his commute to work and ripped the article out as a reminder to visit the location at a later date.

Our little Biscuit Lady has really adapted to her new urban living environment and visiting 5 Pointz was a really unique way for her to see street artist create on a legally sanctioned piece of property. It also came as no surprise that the barrio boys, angel thugs and hip-hop kids with there spray cans in-hand took a liking to our little gremlin.

Mamma Biscuit was so inpsired and impressed by what she saw that she commissioned an artist to create a wall mural portrait of herself facing the Manhattan city line. . . . so keep a look out people!
