Mamma + Santa = Christmas Bliss!

The most wonderful time of the year has finally arrived and boy do we have an incredible Christmas Season lined up for all you Mamma Biscuit lovers out there! As you all know, Christmas is Mamma’s most favorite holiday of the year and she will be sharing her most festive moments, her outlandish decorations at the pug palace, and her general holiday excursions throughout New York City during the entire month of December—so buckle up people, because unlike
Susan Powter, the insanity starts NOW!

A visit to the North Pole and some face time with Santa Clause is all Mamma Biscuit needed to usher in the season! So on Black Friday, while most Americans were out trampling over each other like cattle at the gates of Wallmart (all in hopes of getting their bloated fingers on the latest waffle maker) we Biscuits were at Dees’ Nursery out in Oceanside, Long Island having a good old laugh with Santa as he doted adoringly over our little gremlin! Too soon you might think but remember, the early bird gets the worm! But don’t get it twisted folks, we did have our fair share of shopping throughout the day (Hello, Century 21) however, we Biscuits are not about camping out in line for anything—unless of course it’s Versace for H&M, and boy was that worth it!

But back to this North Pole vignette with Santa and Mamma Biscuit. Dees’ Nursery has the best Santa I have ever encountered in the industry. His beard is totally real and in just the right shade of silver/white. He also has the best set of rosy cheeks I have ever seen outside of a Norman Rockwell painting. It’s amazing how Santa has Mamma Biscuit on memory lock-down and actually looks forward to our visit every year. When he gets his hands on our little gremlin for a photo opportunity, he becomes giddy with delight. He sticks out his tongue like Mamma and the rest is photographic history! Of course Mamma Biscuit did not disappoint in the fashion department. She was dressed to the nines in her Martha Stewart houndstooth coat and holiday reindeer brooch. Santa was very impressed! After a few kisses and a squeeze, Mamma gave Santa her wish list (which consisted mostly of a variety of soft-chew treats and a couture frock or two) and Santa promised to deliver as long as she does not run under the tree and break any ornaments or that she doesn’t pee anywhere in the house.

After giving him the side-eye and a lick, she hopped out of Santa’s embrace and skittered off into the Hanukkah aisle looking for something—for what, I don’t know, perhaps the truth? Anyway, we can only hope that she behaves before December 25th or else her stocking will be filled with coal! Now you all know we only take Mamma Biscuit to the very best and if you ever find yourself out on the Island in Oceanside, stop in and visit Santa and check out the amazing selection of holiday decor at Dees’ Nursery—this place will amaze you!

25 Days until Christmas, are you foaming at the mouth yet?

Mamma gives thanks!

On this glorious Autumn day, we Biscuits would like to take the opportunity to pause, reflect and give thanks to the many wonderful friends and family in our lives! We are also incredibly grateful for the luxuries and securities that we have and never take any of our material privileges for granted. We thank Curly Tail Pug Rescue for the incredible work that they do as they give new life to tortured and unloved pugs everywhere. We thank them for bringing our beautiful Biscuit Lady into our lives and for giving her a second chance at love and happiness! We thank Mamma Biscuit for showing us the true magic of love and joy that dogs can bring to human beings and for simply being the fabulous pug that she is. Her terrible past is a painful yet important reminder that all suffering of animals (whether domesticated or farmed for food) deserves respect, love and nurture! Mamma’s new life with us in New York City and this blog is a perfect example of how rewarding it is to rescue a dog in need and to generally demystify the notion that dogs that are either considered to be too old, imperfect (by some bullshit breeder standard) or with a damaged past are less valuable or desirable than dogs from pet stores or breeders—the real root and cause for most of this torture to begin with. We continue this sentiment by thanking Farm Sanctuary for their tireless work in not only providing a safe-haven for animals that have endured pain and suffering beyond what anyone could ever imagine but that they also bring attention to such atrocities and demand reform where it’s so desperately needed.

On a lighter note, Mamma would like to give thanks to American pop culture at large that fuels this blog and the strange scenarios that she finds herself in. Her obsessed daddies have really put her through the ringer in the name of pop culture and secretly, she loves every moment of it. Mamma would especially like to give thanks to her favorite muse Madonna for being the fiercest bitch that any real bitch (a female dog) could ever aspire to be! And finally, the Biscuits would like to give a special thanks to all of her fans out there in the world (you guys) for showing your support and interest in our four-legged beast with an abnormally long tongue! Thank you all for tuning into Mamma’s corner on the web and for encouraging the insanity of her life—only you guys could share the dark and twisted humor of viewing a photo of a pug in a corset-bra and pony tail wig.

Expressing true gratefulness is difficult in one day, for grateful deeds span throughout the year, however, the abundance of joy and love that Mamma Biscuit brings to us everyday allows us to feel the gratitude we feel most on this very day—all year long. May you all enjoy a delicious meal with your loved ones—Mamma will sure be begging for some Tofurkey during ours!

Happy Thanksgiving ya’ll, let the insanity of Christmas begin!

Sleeping Beauty!

After a full day of decking the halls at the pug palace, Mamma Biscuit collapsed into the arms of her daddy for a nap. While occasionally twitching her bent paws, our sleeping beauty managed to make our living room sound like a freight train carrying a bunch of pigs to slaughter! Even our Christmas with Johnny Mathis on vinyl playing in the background was no match for Mamma’s disruptive snoring! When she falls this deep into sleep, she turns into a noisy pig that smells like a warm bag of corn chips! Anyway, Tommy was just so lucky to fall into this cozy spooning session with the little gremlin and I felt completely obliged to whip out my camera. We sometimes like to watch her sleep, especially when she’s laying at eye-level with us on the sofa. Shoving your face close to her snout during one of her deep sleeps provides for some wet and powerful audio! Sweet dreams Biscuit Lady, Santa will be coming soon!

A Shore Thing!

The Biscuits need to take a deep breath, relax and take a quick trip to the beach before the stress of the impending holiday begins! OK, we’re not really going to the beach but perhaps reliving these photos along the bay during the winter months in Provincetown can take the edge off the impending stress and chaos as we usher in the Christmas Season. Now Mamma knows what you all are thinking—that Thanksgiving has yet to arrive, why in the hell are we talking about Christmas? The answer: because we’re the Biscuits damn it! We practically define Christmas (although in reality, we probably share the definition with a bloated Mariah Carey singing All I want For Christmas while wearing a tube sock as a micro-mini dress) either way, you get my point! But Seriously, we have been assaulting our readers (you all) with numerous seasonal tips and recommendations regarding holiday decor all throughout the year so talking about Christmas now is actually late in our book! Here at the Pug Palace, the preparations are intensely detailed, laborious and often exhaustive—and with good reason as we intend on taking you on a hyper-crackhead Christmas experience for the entire month of December alla John Waters style! So be prepared to be merry, jolly, frightened, slightly offended and often overwhelmed by our coverage! Halloween was a cake-walk in comparison to what Mamma has in store for you all! But I digress, back to this lovely, serene moment on the beach with my two dogs—away from all of these holiday distractions.

These photos were taken two years ago during low season in Provincetown—our first winter together with Mamma Biscuit! Oh how the time goes by so quickly! Anyway, there’s nothing Mamma loves more than to run around on the cold sand along a deserted beach on a lazy day! If memory serves me right, it was windy and cold out there along the waters’ edge and looking back at these photos now, I’m wondering why we didn’t put a sweater on the Biscuit Lady to keep her warm. Despite that, this memory and these photographs put a smile on my face. Wow, I think that did the trick, I’m more relaxed now! It’s as if I just popped a few percocet while drinking a glass of Merlot after walking down this memory lane. I think I’m ready to flip the Bing Crosby record over to Side B and return to decking the halls at the Pug Palace!

Bright like a neon Pug!

It’s that time of year again! That confusing time when it seems colder in our apartment than it truly is outdoors. You know what I mean, right? When your indoor living environment is so damn cold that you need to suction your entire body under a blanket just to simply watch an episode of Judge Judy on channel 55! It may be a great way to prevent the loss of a limb from frost bite but it sure confuses and misleads me when I prepare to leave our apartment! I end up choking myself with a heavy wool scarf only to strip down to prevent from boiling-over after 20 seconds of stepping foot outdoors thinking that it’s colder than it really is!

But I digress, back to Mamma Biscuit. Thank goodness we have our Biscuit Lady because she serves as a living and moving electric blanket. I just shove my ice-cold feet under her chassis and within minutes, my feet are warm and toasty as the yule log burning across my TV screen on Christmas Eve! It’s not easy though, bitch is a sofa hog. She has her particular spot and if you get in her way, she’ll make sure to let you know!

At any rate, here is Mamma Biscuit getting her “cozy on” in this incredibly warm and very cool-looking blanket that Tommy’s mother knitted for her bed back in 1974. Can you even believe these neon colors? What can be better than knitted lime green and hot pink wool yarn? It’s like she knew she would one day have a gay son who would kill to own such a bedspread—and now Mamma Biscuit has inherited such a fabulous blanket to keep her warm during these inbetween days at our apartment! In case you were wondering, it’s made to fit a king size bed as a bedspread and it’s striped horizontally—alternating between lime green and hot pink. It’s also fringed at the end and she knitted the date on one of the corners! We love this blanket and it sure comes in handy when we’re kept waiting on the phone with the landlord office to inquire about the lack of heat at the pug palace. In the meanwhile, I guess staying warm entails going outside!
