Mamma + Haring = L O V E

Hey all you Keith Haring fans out there, did you know that there’s a former boys’ bathroom at the LGBT Community Center here in New York City with a Keith Haring mural adorning the four walls of the room? I know, leave it up to Mamma Biscuit, an NYC transplant pug from a puppy mill in Georgia to inform us all of what’s cool in this city! Our little Biscuit can’t help but break this secret out to her fan base—afterall, Mamma Biscuit loves when graffiti art meets social activism—especially when it’s totally free and open to the public for viewing!

In 1989, artists gathered at the LGBT Center in NYC to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. There were many artists who painted many rooms and hallways throughout the Center (a converted school) and Keith Haring was one of them. He painted this former bathroom (now a meeting space) at this celebration about six months before he died. Sexually charged and appropriately placed within the confines of a boys bathroom, Keith created an intricate web of gay sex and identity that just seems to circulate around the room like a giant infinity symbol. Mamma was totally entranced—and yes, in case you were wondering, we did indeed sneak the Biscuit Lady in very easily by putting her into that nifty and discreet Lacosté travel bag of hers last weekend when we visited the space.

So if you ever find yourself strolling through the West Village, make a point of stopping by the LGBT Center and simply ask the front desk to see the Keith Haring Bathroom, you’ll be happy you did!

Martha Loves Mamma!

So in the beginning of October, a good friend of ours who happens to work for Martha Stewart introduced Mamma’s little corner on the web to the producers of Martha’s show on television. Well, those producers fell in love with our little gremlin and the blog; I mean, who wouldn’t? Mamma is very entertaining, she’s incredibly beautiful and svelte for a pug her age, she has an epic tongue that is, in my opinion, the 8th Wonder of the World and finally, she has impeccable style and taste! Anyway, Martha’s camp loved her so much that they sent us this fabulous houndstooth coat and a very cute oatmeal thermal with baby pink detailing (we’ll save that for a later post) to express just how much they adore the little Biscuit Lady! Mamma Biscuit and family are huge Martha Stewart fans! Not only do we find her to be incredibly talented with her crafty ideas and amazing design aesthetic, we also think it’s fabulous that she is such a huge dog-lover! We love how much she loves her very own dogs and all dogs worldwide—including our little girl! What’s even more exciting about receiving these gifts is that the producers expressed interest in having Mamma appear on one of Martha’s many pet shows at some point in the future—I know, how wonderful would that be? Keep your fingers crossed people! In the meanwhile, let’s talk about this fantastic coat Mamma is wearing!

So off we went on Sunday morning through Fort Tryon Park and towards The Cloisters to take these wonderful photos of Mamma wearing her new fabulous Autumn coat. If there is one fabric Mamma loves wearing, it’s houndstooth!

As you all may recall, our little gremlin has a brooch collection that would make the late Nan Kempner weep with jealousy, so houndstooth or Bouclé (typical Chanel-jacket fabric) is really the perfect backdrop to anything out of her collection! In this particular photoshoot, Mamma is wearing a vintage gold circular brooch from the 1940’s as a closure to the neck of the jacket. Our Biscuit is always between sizes so a brooch can easily fix this problem while adding a bit of elegance and sophistication to her overall look.

I’m not going to lie, this coat is fabulous—and it only retails for 24.99 at PetSmart! I think we’re in love with almost every single garment from Martha’s entire collection. The quality is on par with those really expensive garments that we come across in those Upper East Side boutiques! With that said, Mamma Biscuit would like to thank Martha personally for sending her such stylish new digs. Our girl loves adding to her ever-growing, fashion-forward wardrobe.

In conclusion, Mamma brings old-world uptown class to Washington Heights, Fort Tryon Park and The Cloisters while wearing this couture coat. I mean, even tourist felt compelled to ignore the famous Unicorn in Captivity tapestry at the museum only to get a closer look at our fabulous four-legged Biscuit in her Martha Stewart coat!

East Village Mamma!

As the dust settles from the Halloween celebrations from last week, The Biscuits had a chance to take an easy stroll through the East Village to clear the stress away from such a chaotic holiday weekend. No agenda, no time restraints, no last-minute errands to run, just a simple walk through the city I love with the two dogs I love (besides Mamma Biscuit, I consider Tommy to be part pug too.)

Anyway, we were on our way to check out some Gothic gear in one of our staple haunts, Trash and Vaudeville, when we stopped to take these photos of Mamma Biscuit having a New York City moment on the corner of 3rd Avenue and St. Marks Place. For those of you who don’t know, the famous East Village artist Jim Power, also known as the Mosaic Man (coined by the Village Voice) has worked his tile-artistry on almost every lamp post in the neighborhood—and by default, landmarking many spots within the East Village. So pairing one iconic piece of street art with Mamma Biscuit, an iconic New York City pug seemed as natural as a Sabrett hot dog and a can of Coke sold right off the street!

At any rate, Mamma Biscuit drew a healthy crowd of locals as I threw myself on the ground to take these photos! She’s just too damn cute and so damn determined to get that soft-chew treat Tommy is waving at her from a distance (instant trick to get her to focus when I want to take a photo of her) The NYC cabs making their turns onto 3rd Avenue behind her are simply an added bonus to this New York City moment! Mamma Loves NY and NY loves Mamma!

Paws up for Halloween!

Picture this: snow, hail and wind whipping around outside the pug palace at 9pm in the evening on Saturday night as Tommy and I, our friend and my cousin were toiling away indoors putting together our Halloween looks before heading downtown to a party! It was tough people, I’m not going to lie! Seeing Mamma Biscuit all curled and cozy in her donut bed as I was painting on Tommy’s brain made we want to just simply quit—to throw on my Snuggie (yes, I actually have one) and watch The Worst Witch for the 12th time while spooning the Biscuit Lady and eating a few bags of Utz potato chips. I have no idea where I drew strength or inspiration from, but we continued on with our preparations despite the fact that the entire day was a disaster. Mamma’s Howl-o-ween Parade and Costume Contest in Fort Tryon Park was canceled, trees were falling down everywhere and it was COLD outside! I don’t mean October-cold, it was January-freezing. But we Biscuits refused to cancel Halloween—that would just be a travesty! So we pushed through and put together our Lady Caca, err I mean Lady Gaga looks in record time before jumping into a gypsy cab to get to where we needed to be!

So enclosed are photos of our Bored This Way Halloween costumes—just an FYI, my very witty cousin Monia visiting from Toronto coined this phrase and I couldn’t stop laughing when she said it. What I meant to say is our Born This Way costumes. Contrary to what you might think, it wasn’t all that hard to put together. I just grabbed Mamma’s monocle from her Blond Ambition costume and took a closer look at Madonna’s entire career to come up with our look, what do ya’ll think? All kidding aside though, this skeleton sequence between Lady Gaga and Rick Genest, A. K. A. Zombie Boy is amazing—hands down!

Mamma Biscuit totally approved although I couldn’t get her to stop gumming on my side pony tail wig! I guess she was pissed because it looked very similar to her Madonna wig, and Mamma doesn’t like to share a look if you know what I mean! I have to admit, wearing a side pony tail is rather uncomfortable—I kept thinking that it was sliding off to one side. Anway, I think you all would be happy and proud to know that despite my fear of a wig-malfunction, I was able to whip it around on the dance floor alla Beyonce style in her Ring the Alarm music video—and boy was that a liberating experience!

To conclude yet another successful Halloween holiday, we Biscuits learned one great thing about ourselves as the weekend unfolded— it’s that no matter rain, snow, hail, flood or earthquake, we’re always ready and willing to Marry the Night!

Happy post Halloween y’all!

Her Madgesty takes on Halloween!

Come on girls, do you believe in love? ‘cause Mamma’s got something to say about it, and it goes something like this! Don’t go for second best baby, put your pug to the test, you know, you know you’ve got to—and boy have we put Mamma Biscuit to the test. Our little Fawn Ambition may believe in love and female empowerment but I’m not sure she believes in a proper bra fitting! Can you even believe this cone-bra-corset Mamma is wearing? I know I can’t and I actually made it. In my opinion, Mamma’s cone-breasts can only be described as “torpedo tits”—and that’s putting it lightly! But don’t get it twisted people, like Madonna, Mamma Biscuit can work this corset better than any drag queen out on the NYC circuit looking to pay her rent—and in case you were wondering, I snapped my fingers after writing that line!

Now Mamma realizes how tremendous her chest looks but she decided last minute that she would rather go BIG than go home! It’s this kind of risk-taking that has made Mamma Biscuit the pug Icon she is today. Now about that pony tail of hers, IT’S FIERCE, I’m not going to lie, there’s no scandal or controversy there, just great braiding skills (thank you Pam A.K.A. Buffy for showing me how a simple braid is done.) That braided crown and the right amount of peroxide all conspire to complete Mamma’s Blond Ambition look before she heads out on stage!

So off we go this morning to the Annual Howl-o-ween Dog Parade and Costume Contest in the Sir William’s Dog Run located in Fort Tryon Park. Getting out the front door isn’t going to be easy though, it’s been a very difficult morning to say the least. Mamma Madonna has been bitching and barking up a storm because Tommy had filled her dressing room with several bouquets of hydrangeas (yes, I’m throwing him under the bus, we gays can be vicious at times) and I’ve personally had it out with Miss. M. about her act. I warned her that if she got on stage at the parade and simulated pug masturbation she would be disqualified, possibly arrested and the Biscuit Household would have to endure a major bout of public shame—especially from the Vatican! After she refused to compromise her artistic vision for the parade several times and scratching me on my leg for even suggesting it to begin with, I decided to bring out the big guns—a bag of soft-chew treats. Suddenly Mamma was willing to compromise on her act—take note Freddy DeMann, that’s how you handle the unruly talent!

So after several treats to appease our high-maintenance bitch, we gathered around for a pre show prayer circle. Mamma began her prayer by thanking Curly Tail Pug Rescue for giving her freedom to be as button-pushing and controversial as she wants to be. She thanked her entire crew behind mammabiscuit.com (that would just be me and Tommy really) for bringing her Material Girl antics to the masses. She went on to thank all of her fans from around the world—yes YOU, the readers of this blog. Without your unyielding love and support, none of this would be possible. And Finally, Mamma ended her prayer by cursing the day Lady Gaga arrived onto the pop music scene and for ripping off her entire career. Note to Mother Monster, it’s going to take a lot more than a catchy chorus and an Alexander McQueen ensemble stolen straight out of Björk’s closet to put this bitch in her coffin!

Wish us luck on a great show and Happy Halloween everyone!
Shall we go on a Holiday? Holiday, celebration, come together in every nation!
Love,
Mamma Madonna!
